Terms of service
These terms cover using Afya as a patient and as a doctor or clinic. We have written them plainly and left out the terms that Oman's Consumer Protection Law voids.
Draft, pending legal review
This document is an in-house draft, prepared for review by legal counsel in Oman. It is not legal advice, is not yet in force, and may change.
Who we are
Afya runs this directory and the tools around it. We are an independent service, not a hospital, a clinic, an insurer, or a government body. Afya does not practice medicine and gives no medical advice.
Using Afya as a patient
You can search, read reviews, and contact doctors without an account. Reviews are the opinions of the people who wrote them, read by a person before they are published, and are not medical advice. Your medical care is a matter between you and the doctor. For a medical emergency in Oman, call 9999.
Doctor and clinic accounts
A doctor or clinic can claim a profile to correct it and manage it. Claiming, an accurate listing, verification, and a public right to reply are free, forever. Paid plans add tools such as analytics, review invitations, and online consultations. When you manage a profile, you agree to keep its information accurate and not to impersonate another person.
Payments, changes, and cancellation
Paid plans are a flat subscription. Your price does not change during a period you have already paid for. Any price change applies only at renewal, with at least 30 days of notice and your right to cancel before it takes effect. Founding prices stay locked while the plan is active. Patients pay doctors directly, through the doctor's own payment account; Afya's share of any consultation fee is 0.
Cancellation and refunds are set out in our refund and cancellation policy.
Reviews and neutrality
No one can pay to move up in search, or to hide, reorder, or delete a review. A doctor can reply publicly and ask us to correct a factual error, but can never make an honest review disappear. These commitments are set out in our Trust Charter, and how we handle your data is on the privacy page.
Our responsibility
We provide the directory and the tools with reasonable care, and we keep the information as accurate as we can. Decisions about your treatment and the care itself are the doctor's, not Afya's. Nothing in these terms takes away a right the law gives you.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will tell you. A material change takes effect at your next renewal, or after reasonable notice, and you can cancel if you do not accept it. We do not change or end these terms without notice.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Sultanate of Oman.
These terms are published in Arabic and English. If the two versions ever differ, the Arabic version is the one that applies.
